Claire's a high-school cheerleader from Texas who has the ability to heal herself. In Season 1, Mr Bennet, her adoptive father, worked for The Company (monitoring people with special abilities). He adopted Claire when Meredith Gordon, her mother, was apparently killed in a fire whilst Nathan Petrelli, Claire's biological father, thought Claire was dead. The Company gave her to Mr Bennet with the proviso that he hand Claire back to them if she manifested any special ability. However, he ended up trying to hide her from them. Claire had a key role to play in Season 1 when Peter is given the cryptic instruction, "Save the cheerleader, save the world." If Sylar had managed to kill Claire and take her power of regeneration he would have been almost invincible.
In Season 2 the Bennets were living as "the Butlers" in California. They were on the run from The Company and trying to keep a low profile. However, Claire had just met West and discovered they had rather a lot in common. When Claire discovered that, as a child, West had met her adoptive dad (Mr Bennet aka H.R.G) she didn't want them to meet again. Needless to say the two did eventually meet and - after some scary flying stuff - they learned to trust each other. When H.R.G was shot dead, Claire finally realised how much she cared for him. After his memorial service, Claire confronted Elle and revealed her plan to tell the world about her amazing powers.
Claire starts Season 3 being chased in her own home by Sylar who wants her power. Getting what he came for he leaves telling Claire that she's special. In a state of shock after Sylar's attack and realising that she can no longer feel pain, she's knows she's not destined for the life of a normal young teenager, despite what her two mother's say.
About the Actor
Hayden Panettiere starred in the independent film The Architect opposite Isabella Rossellini. She co-starred in the film Shanghai Kiss, and as the lead in Bring it On: All or Nothing. Training rigorously and executing her own stunts, she dazzled audiences in her role as a competitive ice skater in Ice Princess.
Her other film credits include Raising Helen, Message In a Bottle with Kevin Costner, The Object of My Affection with Jennifer Aniston and The Affair of the Necklace with Hilary Swank.
