Well, I am glad to be back and for my comeback video, I thought I would upload this video called, "Tag Team" from the game, WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2009. This footage is from the Playstation 3 version of the game. Enjoy!
WWE SVR 2009 Information:
WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2009 will be the tenth video game in the WWE SmackDown professional wrestling series, and will be the sequel to its predecessor, WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2008. The video game is based on the professional wrestling promotion, World Wrestling Entertainment, and is named after two of the promotion's three brands, Raw, SmackDown, and ECW. The game is being developed by YUKE's Future Media Creators and will be published by THQ, the same developer and producer for all WWE SmackDown series video games. TOSE will oversee development for the Nintendo DS version. Production of the video game was officially announced on March 27, 2008 by IGN and THQ, respectively, for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, Nintendo DS, Wii, and Xbox 360 video game consoles.
New features:
Some new features in this game is the new enhanced tag team match. It also has, for the first time, the Inferno Match. where the player has to set their opponent on fire. Unlike the real life match which takes place with the ring surrounded by fire coming from gas fed pipes, the ring ropes themselves will be on fire. To win the player must increase the temperature of the ring by performing more devastating moves. As soon as the temperature reaches 500°F, the player can then begin to set their opponent on fire.

The game promises more match types, more weapons and the debut of online gameplay, which will feature matches and rankings. Although the title will pack Road to WrestleMania like the aforementioned versions, the Wii copy of SVR '09 will be the only place to find interactive entrances and victory celebrations that range from posing on the ramp to slapping the taste out of a beaten opponent. Successfully get the crowd hyped on your way to the ring and you'll get an in-match bonus. Seasoned players who pick up SVR '09 on the Nintendo DS will probably be in for more than a few surprises. Gone are the stylus-heavy controls of last year and in their place is a more traditional d-pad/grapple system gamers that have grown up with, although the stylus will still play some part in the action. Being developed by Tose, the folks behind Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime, the DS version of SVR '09 will pack a season mode with an RPG approach. Players will interact with Superstars, upgrade their abilities and complete missions to become the champion. Create-A-Superstar will make its Nintendo handheld debut, there will be a larger roster of Superstars, and the title will pack a wealth of new match types. WWE Diva Maria -- who will be making her first playable appearance in SVR 09 -- agrees with me.
"No offense, but it's our writers," Maria told me when we were talking about the fan reaction to RTW. "The players get to play actual WWE Storylines."
On the heels of the RTW announcement, THQ swung by the IGN office recently to give me a look at Maria and -- more importantly -- Road to WrestleMania. Both are looking pretty sweet.
If your just joining us, Road to WrestleMania lets you control Undertaker, CM Punk, Chris Jericho, Triple H, John Cena, or Rey Mysterio and Batista on each Superstar's path to the biggest spectacle in Sports Entertainment. This is a drastic change from the be-anyone-you-want 24/7 Mode SVR featured last year, which put everyones Superstar into the same tale and left a lot of bigger names feeling out of place and acting uncharacteristically. Road to WrestleMania replaces that garbage with character-specific fables featuring full-fledged voice acting, alternate endings, and scores of unlockables.
"It was a tough decision, but you get a lot more bang for your buck," THQ Creative Manager Bryan Williams said.
For my demo, THQ showed me the Undertaker storyline. Beginning with 79 days until WrestleMania, the story pit the big guy against Santino for his first feud, but it was the little stuff that caught my attention. Each week, the show you're on will start with its traditional fireworks and crowd-scanning shots before cutting to the announce table to hear what the week's biggest story is. So, in Taker's case, we're spun around the SmackDown arena before settling in on the Coach and Michael Cole dishing on the day. Now, no offense to JR, King, THQ, or whoever else might get all cranky with me, but commentary's never been a strongpoint of the SVR franchise. The game tries, but generally it's a few moves behind and a bit too general. However, because there's a focus to each RTW tale, commentary is actually thought-out, story-specific, and worth listening to. During the Undertaker matches I saw, Cole and Coach talked about the feud that was developing, why it was happening, and any other story point that made sense. It was actually like watching the show -- a point driven home by the cutscenes dropped in all over the place and the WWE copyright logo popping up at the end of the show as Cole and Coach freak out.
Before you head to the ring, you'll be booted back to your locker room where you can save and adjust options, but more importantly, this is where you'll get optional objectives. During the Undertaker storyline, a note in the Deadman's locker informed me that if Undertaker could put away Finlay -- a cutscene showed a run-in between the man who loves to fight, Santino, and Undertaker -- quicker than it took to beat Santino, Taker'd be handsomely rewarded. I can't tell you what became available when Undertaker won, but I can tell you it was totally worth it. The objectives will unlock environments, characters, match types, and more.
I've seen a lot of people asking what RTW keeps from 24/7 mode, and the answer is "Not much." This isn't really the same thing as 24/7; here, you're participating in a specific story that has different paths and alternate endings. There are no injuries to worry about, and no training activities to participate in during your off days. You're in your locker room the day of your match and can look at messages or goals, then it's into the ring or to view a cutscene, and then you watch as the days on a calendar will scroll by as the shows you're not on. Yes, you'll appear on PPVs and win titles and so on, but all of those choices are story elements and not something you'd go out and seek on your own.
So what does this mean for your created Superstars or Superstars not in the RTW six-pack? Well, there was an interview from a few months ago where THQ Senior Creative Manager Cory Ledesma said there would be something for Superstars to do, and I made sure to ask him all about it during the THQ visit. However, to hear what Ledesma, Williams, and Maria had to say about that mode and everything else SVR related, you'll need to tune in to my interview on Podcast Beyond -- the IGN PlayStation Team show -- this Thursday. If listening isn't your thing, Thursday will also bring your first look at Maria's in-game character when the Diva picks up the controller and faces off against Gruesome Greggy in an IGN Championship/WWE Woman's Championship unification match on IGN.

Don't pretend to think you know Edge. You didn't grow up with the Rated-R Superstar and his single-parent mother in some cramped apartment in Orangeville (a tiny Ontario town that Edge recalls offered residents two choices: "work in a factory in town, or if you're really lucky, land a job in Toronto"). You likely identified with his classmates at Princess Elizabeth Public School, carrying a hockey stick and aspiring to play for the Toronto Maple Leafs. Edge, meanwhile, dreamed of rocking out on a Les Paul guitar and following in the platformed footsteps of KISS. (He didn't, but it hasn't stopped him from amassing an impressive collection of signed, custom-made guitars over the years.)
If you really knew Edge, you would have noticed the "black cloud" that hung over the eight-year-old boy after a car accident claimed the life of his most-admired uncle. You would have also seen that cloud give way to the yellow and red-clad form of Hulk Hogan, whose mantra of saying prayers and taking vitamins spoke directly to Edge from the TV. Perhaps then you would have sat eleventh-row ringside with him in Toronto's SkyDome; it was there he watched Hogan face Ultimate Warrior in the "Ultimate Challenge" at WrestleMania VI, and vowed he would also headline a WrestleMania someday.
Edge's pals at Don Bosco Secondary High knew he was destined for greatness, even writing in his yearbook "Most Likely to Win the WWE World Championship." Yet they couldn't predict he'd receive free wrestling training after winning an essay contest in the Toronto Star. Only his trainers, Sweet Daddy Siki and Ron Hutchison, and those training with him in Sully's Gym, could truly appreciate juggling multiple odd-jobs while wrestling on the independent circuit. But unless they were riding shotgun, they couldn't begin to comprehend Edge's "winter death tours" across frozen north Canadian lakes, or eating only canned tuna for days at a stretch, simply to wrestle in poorly attended venues.
Much due-paying and a recommendation from fellow Canadian Bret "Hit Man" Hart ultimately helped Edge make his WWE debut in June 1998, though few believed he would last. So he made his opponents believe, even if it meant taking chairs to the head, falling off ladders and crashing through tables. He's suffered a torn ACL, ruptured labra, a broken neck, a fractured skull, metal rods in his teeth and countless stitches over the years, but not without giving as good as he's received. Ask any man-or woman-who has gone toe-to-toe with him; they'll tell you why he's called the Rated-R Superstar.
