LMMS has seen big improvements since the 0.3 series. I was surprised to load it up and see more instruments and tools, a prettier interface, and a much more stable music creation system.
Of note are the Vestige VST plugin, which allows Windows VSTs to be used (I tested the Superwave P8 and it worked very well); the C64 SID emulator, Gameboy emulator, and SF2 (SoundFont) import.
I have been using ALSA instead of Jack and can report very low CPU usage and good sound quality.
Apologies for the handheld video!
P.S., the story in the annotations is completely true. I guess I was about 9 years old when it happened.

A test of LMMS on my linux machine. I could've easily made the song more complex, but as the video explains my Linux PC is very old and underpowered (667MHz P3, 384MB of RAM @ 133MHz).
If I every get a more power linux computer I'll quite happily use LMMS, Hydrogen and Rosegarden together in one awesome mix!
If you have linux, give LMMS and some of it's other audio apps a try :]
