"Based on a manga by Kimura Tahiko serialised in Gangan Wing.
Nagasumi visits his grandmother near the sea during the summer. While visiting, he goes for a swim, and drowns right after entering the water. Fortunately for him he is saved by a young mermaid. Later as he tells the story to his family, a young girl named San appears at his home and begs Nagasumi to marry her.
She's followed by two large thugs and they take both him and his parents to San`s home under the sea. If that wasn't strange enough, it turns out San`s parents are mob bosses. Nagasumi is left with the choice of either death or marrying San. He chooses to marry a mermaid.
This would likely be that, except San`s father and some members of the mob are not exactly thrilled to have Nagasumi courting San and are determined to bring an end to their relationship--or him. And there is also the matter of keeping it a secret that San is a mermaid." [Info taken from anidb]

Sun Seto (瀬戸 燦, Seto San)

Sun is the daughter of the Yakuza Seto Group's boss, Gōzaburō Seto. She is a firm believer in the chivalrous spirit of mermaids, and is devoted to her role as Nagasumi's wife. Sun is also in love with Nagasumi. Since she has yet to become an adult, Sun is unable to completely maintain her human form, and her legs revert to a tail whenever she comes into contact with water. She often cites the similarity between the words ninkyō (chivalry) and ningyo (mermaid) to stress her adherence to honorable courses of action. Her name is related to Seto Inland Sea and Sun.

Mawari is the daughter of the chief of police , and a childhood friend of Nagasumi, who she has a crush on. She takes it upon herself to act as a moderator of social behavior, and often reprimands Nagasumi for some of his actions. Mawari's dream is to become a police chief like her father. Her name is related to Zenigata Heiji and "Omawari-san" (policeman in Japanese). In episode 15 she is paired up in a boat ride with Kai, thinking that he might start doing things as a "couple" she starts panicking.

The Longest Combined Road and Rail Bridge in the World.
The route via the Seto Ohashi Bridge was the first of the three routes linking Honshu and Shikoku opened to traffic. In an area studded with many islands, this route hops from one island to another across the Seto Inland Sea. Joining the city of Kurashiki in Okayama Prefecture on the Honshu side with Sakaide City in Kagawa Prefecture on the Shikoku side, the complete route was opened in 1988. Stretching across a total distance of 9.4 kilometers (5.8 miles) there are six bridge sections that span the gaps between islands that lie between the two cities, as well as four viaducts on the islands themselves. The whole route is a double-decker construction, with an expressway running above a railway. In terms of scale, it is the largest combined road and rail bridge system in the world. Among all, the 1100-meter (3,609-foot) central span of the 1,723-meter (5,653-foot) long Minami Bisan Seto Ohashi Bridge at the southernmost end is on its own the world's longest combined road and rail bridge.
Construction began in October, 1978. A total of over 1 trillion yen (7,692 million dollars; $1=130yen) was spent on this huge project, and it took ten years to be completed in April 1988. At present only normal trains are accommodated, but for future integration into the national high-speed railway network, the railway section is also designed to accommodate Shinkansen "bullet" trains. Due consideration has been given to the forces of nature, and the structure can withstand winds of up to 65 meters per second (146.25 m.p.h.) and earthquakes of magnitude 8.5.

Lunar Edomae (江戸前 留奈, Edomae Runa)

Lunar is a childhood friend and rival of Sun. She has used the powers of her mermaid voice to become a pop star idol singer. She seems to suffer from a superiority complex, and she never passes up an attempt to overshadow Sun. She initially thought that Sun was boasting Nagasumi to her, and in an attempt to outdo Sun she decides to steal him away from her by making Nagasumi her servant, since Nagasumi has also seen her mermaid form. Later she decides to live in Nagasumi's house until his servant status is over. It was unclear if she has developed a liking to him (since she has decided to learn how to cook and make him a packed lunch, although still in an attempt to beat Sun). But it is then revealed in episode 12 that she does in fact have feelings for Nagasumi, and planned on marrying him, but this is stopped by Sun. Her name is related to Tokyo Bay and Lunar.

She also thinks that Nagasumi and Lunar should be together.
